Ravenswood Watch Party

“America to Me”

Watch Party 1: Race, Identity, Privilege and Education*

4th Floor Makers’ Lab
Inspired by Langston Hughes’s poem, “Let America Be America Again,” America to Me is a documentary series that examines the complexities of race, identity, privilege, and education through the eyes of a diverse group of young people.

America to Me focuses on a year at Chicago’s Oak Park and River Forest High School (OPRFHS), a school with many similarities to our own Ravenswood Elementary.

Ravenswood parents Tamara Drew and Kate Nelson will facilitate a screening of the first episode in the series, and lead a follow up discussion - What does it mean to be an equitable school community for all students and families?

Parents, staff, and community members are invited to join us for this critical experience-you won’t want to miss it!

*Recommended for students 7th grade and over.

Join us again!

Watch Party 2: Wednesday, February 27th, 6:30-8:30pm

Watch Party 3: Wednesday, March 27th, 6:30-8:30pm

Friends of Ravenswood School (FORS) is a non-profit organization made up of parents and community members who work together with the administration, faculty and staff to raise funds, build community and facilitate communication for the benefit of Ravenswood Elementary School.

Our efforts help turn today's students into tomorrow's leaders.

FORS was started with the intention of helping bring Ravenswood Elementary School to its full potential. We believe that a strong community can inspire its members to facilitate lasting and positive changes.
